Did you know? Some lung infections in Minnesota could be caused by fungi—not bacteria. Blastomycosis and histoplasmosis are fungal diseases you can get by inhaling spores from soil. Blastomyces is found primarily in wooded areas in north-central & northeastern Minnesota. Histoplasma is more commonly found in prairie regions in the south & west. 🤧 If you have pneumonia that isn’t improving with antibiotics, talk to your healthcare provider about fungal lung infections. Awareness is key. Know the risks, especially if you spend time outdoors.
