Did you know: According to the CDC, Black women are 3 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women? Systemic racism contributes to the disparities in outcomes for African American birthing people. Too often, Black women are dismissed when they report experiencing pain from pregnancy or birth complications. To improve health outcomes for Black pregnant women and new mothers, we have partnered with the University of Minnesota’s Center for Antiracism Research for Health Equity (CARHE) to develop the Dignity in Pregnancy and Childbirth course.
