June is #NationalCMVAwarenessmonth! Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is a common virus that is spread through body fluids. The virus can pass through the placenta during pregnancy and to the baby who will be born with the infection, congenital CMV (cCMV). Babies born with cCMV can have hearing loss or develop it later in childhood. #Newbornscreening and #HearingScreening can help detect CMV soon after birth. Check out our risk reduction tips! health.state.mn.us/diseases/cytomegalovirus/index.html
