Our newly released Maternal Mortality Report identified leading contributing factors to pregnancy-associated deaths from 2017-2018. In 31.3% of deaths, substance use disorders were identified as a cause or contributing factor. A key recommendation from the committee is to support people with substance use disorders and mental health conditions during pregnancy and post-partum, including connecting to treatment and resources.
