You may not see or meet many of them, but behind closed doors at your clinic or hospital, lab professionals are working around the clock to analyze patient samples and provide results that are important to your care.
Sometimes this same information is important for care and illness-prevention for others. Our clinical laboratory partners submit specimens to the Public Health Laboratory for additional testing and characterization. This can solve a single medical mystery, but more likely this finds connections between what may be making people sick across the state; identifying foodborne outbreaks, what respiratory virus is currently circulating, if a new antibiotic-resistant bacteria has come to Minnesota.
Without the work of our clinical lab partners, we wouldn’t be able to do the critical work to keep you and your community safe and healthy.
