Every year approximately 300,000 Minnesota children participate in club or league-sponsored athletic programs. Among those who participate, 1 in 13 kids have been diagnosed with asthma at some point in their life. This means that on a team of 15 young athletes, one or two are likely to have asthma. Our online training course, Athletes and Asthma: The Community Coach’s Role provides basic information about asthma and the steps necessary to keep kids staff while playing in a competitive environment.
