All available COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective, and free for everyone. When you go to your appointment, you will get a fact sheet about the vaccine and a health care worker will ask you a few questions to make sure it’s ok for you to get the vaccine. After getting the shot, you will wait in the clinic for 15-30 minutes to make sure you don’t have an allergic reaction. Before leaving, you’ll get a vaccination card that shows the date you got your vaccine and when to come back if you need a second dose if you need one. Common side effects include arm pain where you got the shot, feeling tired, headache, body aches, fever, or chills. The side effects should go away in a couple days and are completely normal. It’s also ok if you don’t have side effects – the vaccine is still working. It takes two weeks after your final dose for your body to build up protection.
