Do you have lead pipes in your home? All you need is a penny to find out! Locate the pipe that connects to your water meter and use a penny to scratch the pipe. If it's shiny metal under the scratched area like in the picture, it's lead. If it's copper colored, it's copper. And if it remains dull, it's galvanized steel.
