When a Resident at the Silver Bay Veterans Home requests a favorite home-cooked meal from Valor Café—the recreation kitchen—we do everything we can to make it happen! This time the request was a bit out of their wheelhouse, so they called in a professional: Lynn, the Lutefisk Chef from American Legion Post 109 in Two Harbors. It turned into quite the learning experience as the team prepared and served lutefisk in Valor Café, complete with green peas, boiled potatoes and the most delicious cream sauce (Lynn’s secret recipe). Residents who enjoyed the meal said it was the best they had eaten. Many staff tried the dish for the first time as well, with mixed reviews. Lutefisk: love it or leave it! We’ve already decided this will be an annual tradition and Lynn is excited to join us again next year.
