It was a full and engaging week at the Montevideo Veterans Home!
Local Pastor Matt Danielson brought in a baby lamb and shared some fun facts about lambs with the Home’s Residents. The lamb, named 2605, gets her name from her tag—“26” for the year she was born (2026) and “05” because she is the fifth lamb born in the flock this year. As one of triplets she needs to be bottle fed every six hours, which means lots of extra care and attention. 🐑
Veteran Resident Paul, known from his long career in radio, continues to produce a bi-weekly radio show right here at the Home. This week he interviewed Elsie Simonson, a local farmer and daughter of the recreation director. Elsie shared insight into her farming operation including owning and renting land, crop farming and raising pasture pigs and other animals. Residents enjoyed hearing about current yields, interest rates and different farming practices and many shared stories from their own farming experiences.
