Lots of hard work and fun went into preparing for this year’s Lake County Fair! Residents at the Silver Bay Veterans Home gardened all summer, harvesting vegetables, herbs and flowers to showcase. Their dedication truly paid off with some big wins: 🎉 Grand Champion Zucchini Chocolate Bundt Cake 🎉 Reserve Champion Lemon Doughnuts with Lavender Ganache and Lavender Sugar Sprinkles 🌸 Grand Floral Bouquet of fresh-cut flowers One of the most exciting garden projects was our Sweet Dill Pickled Vegetables, made from zucchini, kohlrabi, radishes, dill and sweet peas grown right in our garden and it earned a blue ribbon! We even had fun cutting star shapes from the radishes, zucchini, and kohlrabi for a special touch.
