Victory Vaka’s mother passed away on April 2nd, and his family held her funeral on May 9th. He returned to WKU briefly and talked with his head coach. Everything seemed fine between the two parties. Nine days before the funeral, Vaka got a workout plan and told he was expected back to Western Kentucky by June. On May 26th he received a text from his position coach: “Where are you?” and his scholarship was cancelled the next day. WKU used a “failure to report” designation which prohibits Vaka from re-entering the portal. He is a Senior DT transfer, so he’s no longer able to play his final season.
