FCCT was founded in 2013 to help address the overwhelming need for cancer care in Tanzania. Among the visionaries who saw the need and provided the impetus to form a new nonprofit to address this need were doctors who had worked in northern Tanzania for decades and seen firsthand the difficulties individuals with cancer were facing in this region of the world. Back then, diagnoses of cancer were being made, but there was no care available beyond some surgery.
