Why are the names of Hurricanes owner Tom Dundon's wife and kids on the Stanley Cup? 🤔 That's the question many Canes fans are asking. The addition of family members on the Cup isn't unusual, though. In 2024 and 2025, Panthers owner Vincent Viola included his wife Teresa and their three sons. According to the Associated Press, "taking part in 41 regular-season games (half) or dressing in one in the final guarantees inclusion." The Hurricanes declined the AP's request for comment and the Hockey Hall of Fame said it is not directly involved with the engraving, just the care of the Cup.
