So I see this more benefiting y'all who are already a freelancer (LLC or sole-propriteror however you spell it lol), and are wanting to expand, maybe become a design firm, or design studio. I don't necessarily feel like it'd be for if you wanted to just become a freelancer, because I feel like that's just a few quick steps, BUT if you're looking to grow your own freelance biz, it may be helpful. My point is, if you don't already know about it, go check out the Small Business Development Center's website. It has a TON of FREE and low-cost resources to start/build your biz. People like handymen, people wanting to open a restaurant, people wanting to take their cottage bakery to the next level, and that's why I feel like it's perfect if you want to take your freelance biz to the next level. They have tons of free & low cost workshops on marketing, taxes, business plans, etc. It's per-county, so you can learn about resources close to you. Who knows if you'll find benefit from it, but...
