A young girl holding a jump rope watches a ghostly figure almost outside of frame on the right on Eddy near Leavenworth in the 1910s.
The Rapid Safety Filter Co. of SF building at 430 Eddy is no longer with us, today it’s an empty lot. But the hotel to the left still stands at 440 Eddy as the Jefferson Hotel managed by the Tenderloin Housing Clinic since 1999. If it looks familiar, perhaps you’ve gotten a glimpse of the old gal (built in 1906) in Tales of the City (2019), Pursuit of Happiness (2006), or Nash Bridges (1996-2001).
