What a great start to this summer’s Higher Achievement Program! HAP headed into Week Two today as rising eighth-graders from across Western New York began their four-week multifaceted experience of academics, athletics and more. Opening day included a sorting ceremony in Scaccia Auditorium in which participants were welcomed to their HAP houses – they are spending the summer competing for the HAP House Cup, a competition modeled after the pioneering CHS House System that Canisius High students are part of. The homerooms are led by an excellent teaching staff that includes several CHS teachers and alums while current CHS student counselors and volunteers help guide students and the activities. Participants take classes in reading, English and math and compete in team sports and other activities with their homerooms – all of which are named after Jesuit colleges.
