Snow geese rely on predictable seasonal changes to know when to migrate, nest and raise their young. As the Arctic warms nearly three times faster than the rest of the world, snow melts earlier and warmer temperatures can cause geese to arrive at their breeding grounds before the plants they depend on are ready. At the same time, warmer oceans can contribute to more cold summer storms, putting vulnerable goslings at risk before they're old enough to survive harsh weather.
