Florida just spent up to $5.5 million of taxpayer money to rename an airport after Trump. The same state that has gutted DEI programs, rolled back Black history education standards, and cut funding for initiatives that Black advocates say have directly harmed Black communities. The numbers tell the story. Florida's 2026-27 budget allocated $2.75 million toward the airport renaming alone. Meanwhile, Black students across Florida are attending universities where DEI offices have been dismantled and Black history curricula have been stripped down or eliminated. The airport is just miles from Mar-a-Lago. The first plane to land under the new name was the Trump family's private jet. Eric Trump called it "an incredible honor." The contrast could not be clearer. There is always money for what they value.
