The best man speeches people remember usually aren’t the funniest ones.
They’re the real ones.
The speeches where you can tell someone genuinely loves the couple standing in front of them.
A few things we’ve learned after hearing a LOT of wedding speeches:
✨ Don’t try to sound like someone else
You do not need to become a stand-up comedian overnight. If you’re naturally funny, great. If you’re more emotional or quiet, lean into that instead.
✨ One good story is enough
You don’t need ten different memories. One meaningful story almost always lands harder than a bunch of random jokes.
✨ Talk about the relationship, not just your friend
Some of the sweetest speeches are when the best man talks about seeing the groom become happier, calmer, softer, or more himself with his partner.
✨ It’s okay to be emotional
Honestly, people tearing up during speeches usually means you did it right.
✨ Keep the inside jokes limited
If only three people understand the story, the room disconnects fast...
