May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to focus on our well-being and the power of connection. We all know the importance of mental health, and for many in the disability community, that journey can be shaped by how the world interacts with us.
The isolation and the feeling of being left out of the conversation often create a much deeper toll on mental well-being than any physical or cognitive challenge. When we treat people like people and make sure everyone has a seat at the table, we aren't just being "nice." Being included matters. Being heard matters.
This month, take a moment to think about how you can support those around you with small, everyday actions. Whether it’s a smile to a stranger or simply making sure everyone is included in a conversation, these small gestures can make a world of difference for someone’s peace of mind.
