There is scheduled daytime and nighttime live-fire artillery, mortars and tank gunnery training throughout the year. This training is important for Soldiers and units to meet their training and readiness objectives. Sound does travel slower and farther in colder air of these winter months due to the air’s higher refractive index. Sound from the ranges and impact areas may be louder this week and next due to cold fronts and weapon systems used during training.
