State, military and civic leaders gathered with representatives of Dominion Energy, yesterday, Feb. 23, at the Robert Gray Army Airfield on west Fort Cavazos to unveil the new micro-grid power generation system. This system produces 1.95 megawatts, enough to power 43 facilities and will enable critical systems on west Fort Cavazos to stay powered during an outage. This is one of three micro-grid systems being built on the installation to ensure full capabilities for up to 14 days if there is an outage. ”This micro grid actually allows it to continue to power all of the barracks, the dining facility, and those facilities on west Fort Cavazos that help it care for our soldiers and their families,” said Lt. Gen. Sean Bernabe, the III Armored Corps and Fort Cavazos commanding general.
