Just in time for #PinkFlamingoDay and Pride Month, we're sharing an update on our fabulous flock of flamingos. 🦩💖🌈 Flamingos are highly social animals, and their flocks include all kinds of relationships ranging from friends and families to rivals and romantic partners. Along with male-female breeding pairs, same-sex pairings are also a natural part of flamingo social life. Many of you may remember one of our most famous, same-sex flamingo couples: Freddie Mercury, a 56-year-old American flamingo, and Lance Bass, a 24-year-old Chilean flamingo. The pair spent more than five years together and even stepped in as surrogate parents when needed. While they've since gone their separate ways, Freddie has formed new bonds with fellow American flamingos Eddie V. and Oliver. This year, there are several other same-sex pairs to celebrate, including Swift and Jonas, Swift and Jonas, and Stevie Nicks and Divine—an interspecies pair.
