Megan Rapinoe's trans rights advocacy cost her a spot in a World Cup commercial campaign, the 2x FIFA Women's World Cup champion said in a recent op-ed. Rapinoe penned an article earlier this week for Marie Claire where she continued to oppose anti-trans legislation in sports and explained how a brand backed out due to her outspoken advocacy. "A few months ago, I was packing for a flight and heading out the next day to shoot a World Cup commercial when I got a call from my agent: 'They’re pulling you from the spot,'' Rapinoe wrote. "The brand had recently implemented AI software that flagged potential talent for 'risk.' Mine was that I spoke in support of trans rights."
