FIFA will allow fans to bring rainbow flags into Seattle’s World Cup match between Iran and Egypt, despite pressure from both nations to restrict visible Pride support, according to the Telegraph.
The game coincides with Seattle’s major Pride celebrations, which are independently organized by the city and local host committee — not FIFA.
Iran and Egypt reportedly pushed for a crackdown on Pride expressions and requested removal of related branding, citing their domestic positions on LGBTQ+ issues.
Per the report, FIFA declined those requests, while reaffirming control over in-stadium activity.
Most Pride programming is expected to take place outside the stadium, where local organizers have greater authority.
