Quantum delayed choice experiments show that quantum particles do not behave as if they have fixed properties before they are measured. Instead, they exist in multiple possible states, and the outcome depends on how scientists choose to observe them. The measurement itself plays a fundamental role in determining what can be known about the particle. In delayed choice experiments, researchers can decide how to measure a particle after it has already traveled through an experimental setup. Surprisingly, the results are still consistent with that later measurement choice, suggesting that quantum systems are not committed to a single classical history beforehand.
