Jeff Hardy went back to the darkest night of his career on the final part of Dark Side of the Ring's TNA trilogy, the Victory Road 2011 main event.
Hardy, who was set to challenge Sting for the TNA World Championship in March 2011, arrived in no condition to compete. "Coming back to TNA, it seemed like things were different, and that was a real dark time in my personal life," Hardy said. "I always go back to that night. I'm like, oh my god, because it was such an embarrassing thing."
The episode retells the night from every angle. Eric Bischoff said, "Everybody backstage pretty much knew that Jeff was involved in drugs. For the most part, he had it under control." The production truck watched Hardy staggering during his entrance, and Matt Hardy, who had wrestled earlier that night, recalled being told his brother was not in a good state: "I just remember my heart dropped. I'm like, oh my God."
