Now you see it, now you don't! This disappearing act has all to do with something called "Refraction". Refraction is when light bends as it passes through things. It's why objects under water look shifted, the water moves the light that hits them. Veggie oil and Pyrex just happen to refract light in the same way, so the light passing through makes them blend in together visually!
