Seeing people like Ayesha Curry reconnect with Jamaica reminds us that our cultures and our identity should never be reduced to struggle alone.
What’s painful is watching so many of our own be conditioned to undervalue the very land, culture, and identity that the world profits from. While foreign investors, elites, and outsiders capitalise on our beaches, resources, music, food, and lifestyle, many of our own people are pushed into hardship, rising living costs, migration, and economic struggle in the very paradise that belongs to us.
If the West can distract us long enough through division, consumerism, and colonial mentality they will continue to benefit from the land weve been conditioned to escape from, while we brave the pressure and sacrifice that come with survival in foriegn freezing land! Meanwhile, they escape to the warmth, peace, and richness of our homelands we too often take for granted.
