Alot of us are doing the chicken, fish, rice and all of that but where is the fibre? Constipation is a common sign of low fibre. So is feeling constantly bloated, having sluggish digestion, big spikes and crashes in energy, and being hungry again not long after eating. Meanwhile, foods that actually help like beans, lentils, oats, sweet potatoes, okra, greens, whole grains and fruit are often missing or minimal. And this isn’t just about digestion. Low fibre intake is known to be linked to things we see far too often in our community like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease. These don’t just appear out of nowhere. Insulin resistance can be developing 10–15 years before a diabetes diagnosis. Plaque in the arteries can start building from a young age.
