Two Des Moines metro families have come together to create a new entertainment option in Clive for people of all ages to slide into when it opens Friday, July 17. Emily and Joe Hammond and Ashley and Isaac Poolman — neighbors for about 10 years in Altoona — are owners of Slick City Action Park's first location in Iowa, at 9999 University Ave. in Clive. The Hammonds and Poolmans have crafted the former Joann store site into a 33,000-square-foot indoor dry slide and air court park that will include 13 slides, a dodgeball court, trapeze area, arcade, zipline, and a soft play area and net course for younger children.
