July 17th is World Emoji Day. It is the date represented on this emoji 📆, which is the day Apple premiered its iCal calendar application in 2002. For today, Jared letterpress printed some small sorts from a handy pack made by the American Type Founders. These small lead alloy sorts sold in sets called “handy packs” would assist in making text more eye-catching, especially advertisements in newspapers. From left to right on the print is right pointing fist, nautical star, the U.S. flag, a heart, a clock, bright candle, telephone, star, and a left pointing fist.
