Magnolia Bakery's Chicago location was shut down after a failed inspection on Monday found several violations, including live cockroaches inside the shop, according to city data.
The New York-based bakery known in part from an appearance in the iconic franchise "Sex and the City" first opened at 108 N. State Street in Chicago in the fall of 2011, drawing lines around the block at times.
Inside the bakery famous for its banana pudding and buttercream-topped cupcakes, officials with the Chicago Department of Public Health found an "infestation" of more than a dozen live cockroaches, several dead cockroaches and more than 100 small flies, among other violations, according to the city's data portal.
