Mesa police are asking for the public’s help identifying a person seen near the area where 47-year-old Jerry Dietch passed away in 2025. According to investigators, Dietch was found in an alley near Broadway Road and Hibbert shortly before 6:30 a.m. on May 12, 2025. Police said he had suffered serious injuries believed to be consistent with stab wounds, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Newly released surveillance footage shows an unidentified person pacing around several parked vehicles near the area before suddenly running away around the time of the incident. As of now, police have not publicly named the person as a suspect or explained what connection, if any, they may have to Dietch’s passing. Investigators are releasing the footage in hopes that someone recognizes the individual or remembers seeing something that morning.
