A Gilbert man is facing multiple charges after police say he posted private photos and videos of his girlfriend online without her consent for “quick cash.” According to court documents, the woman contacted police on May 4 after finding Murphy’s old phone inside their shared apartment. Because it was still connected to Wi-Fi and linked to his current device, she allegedly discovered several posts containing images and videos of herself. Police said her face and identifying tattoos were visible in the posts. Investigators reportedly linked the Reddit account to 25-year-old Jake Murphy through an IP address and associated email. During an interview on July 9, police say Murphy admitted posting the material because he was hurting for money and wanted “quick cash.” He also allegedly said some of the posts were made for attention.
