From Hamilton High in Chandler to the No. 1 overall pick in the MLB Draft. ⚾️🌵 The Chicago White Sox selected 21-year-old shortstop Roch Cholowsky with the first pick of the 2026 MLB Draft on July 11. Before becoming the top pick in baseball, Cholowsky was a two-sport star at Hamilton High, playing shortstop for the Huskies and quarterback on the football team. As a senior, he hit .466 with 11 home runs and 35 RBIs, helped Hamilton win a state championship and was named Arizona’s Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year. He continued his rise at UCLA, becoming a two-time Big Ten Player of the Year and one of the best shortstops in college baseball. During his junior season, he recorded 21 home runs, 60 RBIs and a 1.088 OPS. Now, a player developed right here in Chandler is officially the first name called in baseball.
