Arizona troopers say a driver who had already escaped from them twice came prepared for round three—with a hidden button that could conceal the car’s license plate. 😳
On May 22, AZDPS Metro Night Watch troopers spotted the vehicle in Phoenix and recognized it from two previous criminal-speed investigations. When they attempted another stop, DPS says the driver took off and reached speeds above 130 mph.
Troopers anticipated where the driver was headed and followed the vehicle toward the suspect’s neighborhood. DPS says the driver eventually abandoned the car, ran into a home and barricaded inside before being taken into custody.
Investigators then discovered the vehicle had a device that could hide its license plate with the push of a button.
The suspect faces charges including felony flight, criminal speeding, reckless driving and DUI. No injuries were reported.
What’s crazier—the 130+ mph pursuit or the hidden license plate button?
