The WPSL Eastern region championship on Saturday 7/12 saw PA Classics vs New York Athletic Club. Both teams were fresh off wins from the day before to get here. The game was a hot one, and high scoring. Vinals kicked things off by converting a penalty kick in the 6’ for NYAC. Douglass (12’), Wong (19’) and Tunney (39’) also found the back of the net before halftime for NYAC. Despite a scoreline of 0-5, the PA Classics didn’t lose heart, putting one of their own in the net in the 49’. NYAC responded with force, with Wong (52’), Jovanovic (62’) and Bacon (67’) bringing the score to 8-1. The final goal was scored in the 70’ by Husic for the Classics. NYAC took home the East region trophy with their 8-2 win and will compete against the other WPSL regions champions next weekend.
