A new study found that a blood test measuring p tau217 may help identify healthy older adults at high risk of developing Alzheimer’s symptoms years later. People with very elevated levels had a 38 percent risk of cognitive impairment within five years and a 78 percent risk within ten years. The test is not ready for routine prediction yet.
