July 19th is National Ice Cream Day! In 1984, through a presidential proclamation, President Ronald Reagan designated July as National Ice Cream Month and the third Sunday of July as National Ice Cream Day. For today, Channey letterpress printed an electrotype (copy of a woodcut) that was gifted to us from one of our local followers named Mary. The image depicts a hand holding what looks to be a bowl of ice cream and another hand holding a plate of fruit. A decorative border surrounds the image. This was printed with black rubber base ink using our Washington hand press, which was made in 1852.
