FARM FAMILY CELEBRATION! Today we celebrate two farm families 🎉 Kent and Joan Bohnhoff (pictures 1-3): Kent operated the family farm in Effingham county for over 25 years before retiring in 2021. He is a 5th generation farmer on both sides of his family. They are a 50/50 crop share owner on this farm as well as his wife’s farm in Christian county where it is being operated by the 5th generation also. Conservation has been a top priority on both farms over the years with cover crops, nutrient management, pest management, biochar, field borders, tile drainage with management, no till/strip till, organic management with manure and pollinators all being practiced on one or both of the farms. Kent and Joan enjoy their grandchildren by attending as many of their activities as possible. They also enjoy traveling to visit their daughter and grand dog in the Washington DC area.
