BREAKING NEWS: The Trump administration just announced a revised Endangered Species Act rule that would allow more killing of grizzly bears across the lower 48 states, where they're currently protected as an threatened species. Today grizzly bears occupy just a tiny fragment of their historical range in the lower 48, surviving in only four isolated locations in the northern Rockies. These bears continue to be threatened by isolation from other grizzly populations and human-caused deaths. The proposed rule will make it easier to kill imperiled grizzlies at the whim of the livestock industry while it exploits public lands for personal profit. We're stating the obvious here but, killing bears that wander outside arbitrary protected boundaries will not help their recovery. The science is clear that grizzlies need full federal protection to recover, not a rule that will lead to even more grizzly bear mortality. We're going to fight back to stop this proposed rule.
