I distinctly remember the moment when Apache asked me to suit up for his venerable Exodus squad. I played against his team at JHS 22 in LES and had a good game. Immediately after he invited me to join his crew in another league and I earned my spot on the team that had featured all of the LES greats throughout its history. Before his passing, Apache shifted his focus to the women’s game and quickly built it up to be one of the preeminent grassroots programs in the country. So when bg_mrlesexpress invited me back to witness the present and future of the program, I was honored. I’m especially grateful to these young women for allowing me to create some portraits with them and for being locked in the whole time. It was refreshing to be back on the sidelines and to finally try out some lighting I have been experimenting with during quarantine. #RespectTheShooter #RIPApache #ExodusHoops #DoWhatYouLove
