In French Polynesia, with more than one hundred islands scattered across the center of the South Pacific, the ocean is life. For 16-year-old Titouan (@Toutiess), the reef was his playground, alive with color and movement. But one day while surfing, he looked down and was shocked to see the reef had turned ghostly white. In that moment, Titouan decided to act. He and his friends began growing corals to bring their reef back to life. What started as a local effort has grown into @CoralGardeners — a global movement of scientists, gardeners, and innovators working to restore reefs across the Pacific and beyond. Coral reefs may cover less than 1% of the ocean floor, but they sustain a quarter of all marine life and support coastal communities worldwide. Their survival is tied to our own.
