Spanish military firefighters and the Military Emergency Unit (UME) battled the expanding La Mierla wildfire in central Spain through the night into Sunday, 19 July. The fire has scorched at least 90 square kilometers, forcing the evacuation of around 700 people and leaving 16 municipalities temporarily empty.
