In May, we held a workshop with CIJA at Damascus University Law School where hundreds of students learned from international experts and prosecutors on how to build criminal cases and pursue real justice for Syria, within the bounds of Syrian law.
Syria's future lawyers and judges need this kind of experience because justice cannot be imposed from the outside; it has to be built from within.
Earlier this month, our Damascus team presented certificates to those who completed the workshop, students who have taken a real step toward accountability for the crimes of the Assad regime and its allies.
