#Canucks 2nd round pick Brooks Rogowski’s path to the NHL is far from a normal one. ⬇️
Growing up, hockey wasn’t even his main focus. Rogowski comes from a baseball family, with his dad drafted by the White Sox and his uncle drafted by the Dodgers. All signs pointed at Brooks being the next one to chase a career on the diamond.
That all changed when Oshawa scout Maddux Rychel made the trip to watch him play high school hockey. One visit turned into more than a dozen, and Rychel became convinced Rogowski was being overlooked because of the league he played in.
Oshawa took a chance on him in the second round of the 2024 OHL Draft, and it didn’t take long for that decision to pay off. Rogowski finished his rookie season with 23 points in 66 games before breaking out with 42 points in 46 games the following year. He also helped Team USA win gold at the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and quickly became one of the biggest risers in the 2026 NHL Draft.
