The data shows that economic inequality is deeply connected to employment and wages. In May, Black women experienced an unemployment rate of 6.2% compared to the national average of 4.2%, while continuing to earn less than non-Hispanic white men on average. These disparities are more than statistics—they represent barriers to financial stability and economic mobility. On #BlackWomensEqualPayDay, we demand bold action to protect working women, strengthen civil rights enforcement, and build an economy where Black women can thrive.
