July 21 Update Tropical Storm Bertha is overperforming against initial models, with sustained winds of 60 mph as it moves westward toward coastal Louisiana, where it is expected to make landfall before continuing along the Gulf Coast into Texas. The system remains lopsided, with much of the activity still offshore. However, its broad circulation is pumping significant humidity into the Southeast, fueling a stalled front across the Carolinas, Georgia, and Alabama from Thursday through Saturday. This is going to lead to repeated days of rain which could lead to some flooding in some locations. Rainfall totals are projected to range from 2.5 to 6 inches in parts of the Carolinas, with the heaviest rain expected in the western Carolinas, including the Piedmont region, Winston-Salem, and the Triad. #bertha #tropicalstorm #rain #storm #flooding #weather #tropics #south #southcarolina #northcarolina
